Washington DC Engagement Session | Lauren + Michael

It was April 2013 and Lauren was working at a government relations firm and Michael was working on Capitol Hill. A mutual friend invited several organizations to an annual dinner gala honoring business and political leaders. Neither one of them wanted to attend this midweek event and would have rather headed straight home after work.

Lucky for them they attended the event and life has never been the same!!

Lauren's friend saw the sparks between them, and arranged it so that Michael could walk back with Lauren to the Metro. The sparks were definitely high! They were so wrapped up in talking to one another that they almost missed their trains. Then in classic DC fashion they exchanged business cards and were on their way home. It took Michael 3 or 4 days to call Lauren and she was convinced he was not interested. She even mentioned to a friend that Michael was way past the Steve Harvey 24-hour rule LOL! She said "girl please, he probably just didn't want to call you during the work week!" Ironically, Michael called during that brunch, but she missed his call! Lauren called him back and they talked for hours, and set up their first date. The first date was a hit and as they say the rest is history. Since their first date at SEI where they talked until the restaurant closed they have been attached at the hip and absolutely cannot wait to become one next week! Lauren told me, "He is truly everything I've prayed for and more---and I beam every time he says the same."

I'm so excited about capturing their nuptials next week here in Charleston, SC. The two opted for a destination wedding in Charleston, SC since that's Lauren's hometown and let's just face it...there's nothing quite like getting married in beautiful picturesque Charleston!

Since both Lauren and Michael love DC we decided to capture their engagement pictures in the city! We went on a whirlwind tour of DC! We hit the Capital Hilton Hotel which is where they first met, The White House, Chinatown and SEI where they had their first date, Capital Hill was next since they both worked their at some point in their careers, and then last, but not least we headed to the Tidal Basin.

Lauren giggled as she told me, "who knew I'd find a great Southern guy up here; he says the same on finding a great Southern girl.

Here are a few of my favorites images from their engagement session. Enjoy!
