"Alone we are smart. Together we are Brilliant."

-Steven Anderson

What do you get when you add a heap of royalty, a spoonful of melanin, a dash of artistry, and a pinch of magic?

Queen Photographers

It's human nature to desire connection. As humans we are profoundly shaped by our surroundings and social environment. We long to connect with one other. We long to see faces that look like us. Someone who understands us, Someone who cares. Out of this desire for connection and after an amazing experience at the Brown Girl With a Camera portfolio building experience in Greenville, SC Latoya of Latoya Dixon Photography & Sierra of Sierra Collins Photography were inspired to create a creative space for women of color photographers in South Carolina. The Queen Photographers of South Carolina (QPSC) was created. Through persistent community-building and authentic local business partnerships and collaborations the QPSC began to grow and then expanded into North Carolina and Georgia and evolved into The Queen Photographers.

In the realm of photography African American female photographers are often under represented. So, to have so many talented women in which to connect, share, encourage, collaborate, and fellowship with is priceless. Just one year ago this past weekend we held our first Queen Photographers Business + Branding Workshop weekend where with collaborated with local vendors to do two (2) styled shoots and we also talked all about branding and blogging. We even got to learn about what publications look for in submissions from Michiel of Black Southern Belle.

It's amazing to be a member of such an amazing organization and to witness its exponential growth! We even have Area Leaders to help with the development and organization of chapters of Queen Photographers at a local level for a more intimate experience.

I have the pleasure of serving the Charleston Area as an Area Leader along side

fellow photographer Kim Craven!

Check out some behind the scene shots I was able to capture at our area leaders headshot session with

Aaron Smalls Photography! We truly had a blast that day!

This is just a taste of all the fun and fellowship that takes place when we are together!
