"You put your arms around me and I'm home."

It has been said that old love never really dies and that old flames still smolder, especially when they're early loves. Well, for Nakeiah + John amidst all the awkwardness of those pre-teen and teenage years these two found one another formed a strong friendship and held on through the perils of the high school and college years.

Nakeiah + John met on August 2002 in middle school (6th grade) gym class. They were cool, but didn't talk to each other much. John was always quite. In 7th grade they had every class together and became friends. As a matter of fact they use to compete in their math class and they both had the highest grades in their class, but Nakeiah grades were a few points higher than John. It was the start to a beautiful friendship. Then, flash forward five years to October 16, 2007, their junior year of high school at homecoming they decided to make it official. They always liked each other so why not give it a try. Nakeiah was a cheerleader and John a member of the football team made the perfect couple. They both graduated in 2009 and headed off to different colleges all while maintaining their relationship.

How did the proposal take place?

I love hearing a good proposal story, especially one from the groom-to-be point of view. So, here's what John had to say,

"On October 16, 2015, was our dating anniversary and we decided to go to Miami, Florida. So as we were heading down to Miami she was telling me everything she had on her itinerary for that weekend. First thing, of course she had to get her hair, toes, nails and makeup done. As we got to the mall (I can't remember the name of the mall), but anyways we went there to find outfits to wear for dinner that night and for her she had to get on "fleek" as the girls say. Once we finished shopping she went to get herself pampered. As I'm waiting, I decided to go to Zales to purchase an engagement ring while she finished up her pampering. I went there and looked for cheapest ring I could find because she always say the ring doesn't matter, which I knew she wasn't telling the truth lol. After I purchased the ring I went to the car and placed it in my travel bag. Then I was trying to think when I should pop the question. I knew we were going out to dinner that night and to the beach the next day so I said to myself, "I'll wait until we go to the beach because its more romantic." Nakeiah finally finished and we left the mall to go to the hotel to get dressed for dinner. The next day we went to South Beach and walked the strip then later we went to the beach. I was thinking, "how am I going to take the ring with me without her noticing." My thoughts, put it in your boxers because she wouldn't notice. I got the ring out my bag and placed it in my boxers. We got to the beach and started playing in the water and having fun. We started talking about our relationship and how far we came along. I told her I love her and I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her then I got down one knee and proposed to her. She said yes of course and started crying. We hugged and kissed each other. She had to share the excitement and tell someone, so she called her best friend Sylvia. Sylvia was celebrating and going crazy as usual. We really enjoyed our weekend...it was one of the best days of our lives.

I absolutely love the way the way they love and how John calms Nakeiah, but let me stop all this taking and you just admire their love story for yourself!
