“To me, beauty is about being comfortable in your own skin. It's about knowing and accepting who you are."

-Ellen Degeneres

Oh, to be comfortable in your body. The inner dialogue that we have with our bodies should be positive, but in today's world that full of social media and 24-7 in your face news and advertisements you can be bombarded with images of how society think you should look. Then some how along the way our very own thoughts of body images get skewed and it can sometimes become a dangerous spiral of trying to reach and unrealistic body goals.

Each month I will feature a fellow creative who is moving and shaking their way through the world of entrepreneurship. Let me tell you...entrepreneurship is not for the faint-hearted. Entrepreneurship is for the risk takers, the dreamers, and doers!

So, this month let me introduce to you...Jayne of Recovery Love and Care!

Jayne and I first initially connected at a Tuesdays Together meeting earlier this year and then we saw each other again in a local Instagram class. Jayne then booked me to capture some branding images for her brand and website. As I got to know Jayne and discover more about her vision I absolutely fell in love with her heart, her testimony, and most of all her cause!

Check out my interview with Jayne! Just stroll below and read all about her journey and what inspires her as a creative and entrepreneur, also check out a few images from her branding session! What I love about Jayne is her passion to change our thought process when it comes to body positivity and self care.

What do you do? Type of business.

A blog turned business! Recovery Love and Care helps ALL women find self-compassion, self-care and body appreciation through the practice of self-care and Eating Disorder Awareness.

Where are you located and what areas do you service?

Located in Charleston, SC, Provide services in Charleston, Chicago, upstate South Carolina and the South Eastern area. Services and webinars are also provided via tele communications.

What inspired you to start your business?

After reaching full recovery from a life long Eating Disorder, I found passion and strength in helping others reach a level of self compassion and higher sense of self-worth! Along with earning my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I chose to start my own business to advocate, educate, spread awareness and mentor women!

Which came first? Your Business or your brand?

My brand came first.

My brand was me. My recovery was my brand. Fighting for my life within my Eating Disorder recovery brought me strength and inspiration to help others reach full recovery and self-love. After that came my business.

What's your personal mission statement?

To help all women find self-compassion, self-love and body appreciation through the practice of self-care and Eating Disorder Awareness. Spreading awareness advocating, educating and mentoring women to find self-love and health in a world that doesn't allow us to!

How would you describe your brand?

My brand is Feminine, Strong, Passionate, Sexy and Healthy!

While planning your branding session what are/were the important key elements for you? How did you pick a photographer? Make-up artist? Location? Etc.?

Sirena was my first choice for a photographer. There is no other photographer in the area that captures a PERSON and a MISSION like Sirena! I did my own makeup and my own hair!

The beach, the breeze, comfortable clothes, and just being my real and untouched self essential for me and my brand.

How did you conquer fear while building your brand?

Stayed in the present, believed in myself, and leaned into my discomfort. Change and comfort cannot and do not coexist! My brand is me, untouched, and real.

How do you stay motivated?

I stay motivated by staying true to my mission. I am helping women, I am building people up!

What's inspiring you right now?

Recovery Love and Care is partnered with a Non for profit; Project HEAL. Project HEAL is an amazing foundation with 40 chapters, they fund Eating Disorder treatment for those that cannot afford to do so themselves, as it can cost upwards of $30,000/month and most insurance plans do not cover this. I am constantly inspired by Project HEAL, their cause and their mission. I am also inspired by every women wanting to love themselves.

What would you tell someone whose just getting started?

Believe in yourself. Keep on fighting for your dreams. Take care of you first, in order to help others! And be gentle with yourself, because you are worthy!

What's one fear that you conquered this year?

Starting a business!

Are you ready to take your brand to the next level and connect with your ideal client? Wait no longer!
