A Galentine's Pajama Party

Yay! So, its Galentine's Day!

You really don't need a reason to get with your girls, but Galentine's Day is the perfect excuse to go all out. So, just in case you're wondering, "What is Galentine's Day?" Let's start from the beginning.

Well, Galentine's Day is basically an excuse to hang with your gal pals and a Valentine’s Day alternative celebrated on February 13th that’s all about female friendship and celebrating those special friends you have in your life. Amy Poehler turned a sitcom buzzword into a worldwide celebration and how you can plan the perfect girl's night in. So, that just what we did! The term, Galentine's was initially coined by Amy Poehler's character Leslie Knope on the the series Parks and Recreation. And suddenly, what started at a sitcom joke became a powerful buzzword that swept the internet and united women all over the world.

If you need some inspiration and help with planning your Galentine's Day get together then check out the following tips from Liz Martin of The Charleston Weekender:

Get Creative With Your Invitations

Sure, you could text or email your group, but where’s the fun in that?! It really sets the stage for an extra special get together when you put just a little bit of effort with snail mail. We used this

balloon galentine DIY with a free printable to make our invitations. They turned out so cute, but were super simple to make.

Go Matchy Matchy

Your evening will really be complete if you spring for matching pajamas! We found the most adorable champagne pjs from Toss Designs, and paired some of them with my Weekender baseball shirts. This made for super cute pictures, and now our pjs are also a memento of our fun get together.

Ask Your Guests to Chip In

Often times what holds me back from throwing a party is all of the work that’s involved! It’s so much more manageable when you have your guests help out a little (whether it be with food, decor, or party favors). Mimi from The Tiny Tassel brought everyone favors in the form of her handmade tassel earrings, Cayleigh from The Petal Report helped with arranging flowers and styling our fun bar set up, and Katie from Mylk Bar let us make ourselves at home at her gorgeous Charleston house. If you don’t have the perfect location for entertaining or the skills to make something handmade, just ask your friends to help!

Bring Balloons

Nothing says fun quite like balloons! They set the tone for a casual evening and made for great props for photos, too. Who isn’t looking for a great Instagram photo opp these days? Ours came from Cannonborough Collective, the shop I own with The Tiny Tassel. We love making colorful balloon garlands and coming up with new word banners. There isn’t any occasion I can think of that isn’t way better off with balloons!

Keep Snacks Simple

I promise it really doesn’t take some gourmet meal to please your guests. I recommend having just one homemade item (like these donuts from Bib.On). It shows you put forth some effort, and the rest of the time you can get away with ordering delivery. Just pair your take-out with champagne, and it will still feel like a fabulous party!

What are you waiting for? Gather your Galentines and celebrate your awesome friendships with your best gals.

Last, but not least...Just have a good time and enjoy your day with your girls! Also, enjoy more images from this fabulous shoot!
